Flamenco for Fledglings

No doubt parents have always had to work at getting their kids interested in things that were good for them. And no doubt the job is harder than ever. We have all the usual battles with vegetables, homework and the social expectation that people will wear matching clothes. However, nowadays we also have bigtime competition from video games, Hollywood and Internet that means it might even be a struggle to get a child to sit through a "real" theatre performance or pay attention to a ballet or something as intensely cultural as flamenco... But what if there were a flamenco production featuring Cinderella! Thanks to the María Carrasco Spanish Flamenco Ballet, kids can get to know Flamenco through an old fashioned character who has made a big time comeback thanks to Disney. This weekend one of Spain's top flamenco dancers will play Cinderella at Málaga's Alameda Theatre on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday the 25th at 17h30. You can get more information on 902 10 12 12. While you're at it, you might also ask about Embrujo Flamenco, which will feature María Carrasco and ten artists on stage - with both music and dancing.
