Fairs and Festivals

The other day I received a call from someone looking for information about the Raisin Festival (Fiesta de la Uva Pasa) in La Viñuela. It so happened they had heard two different dates reported for this year's festivities and wished to confirm which was correct. A representative of the town hall in La Viñuela was happy to provide me with the correct answer: a third date. in fact, the festival will take place this year from the 19th to the 20th of September and promises to be worth a visit. This story however, serves to highlight the difficulty in trying to prepare accurate information about festivals and festivities. Both of the dates my caller provided came from "reliable" sources. Each and every date for every event must be checked on and confirmed at source and this is tedious work. Before heading off for any festival, you must be sure the information you have is not out of date or second hand. For this reason, Andalucia.com is working hard to continually improve the events information at the site. This is an on-going project, but we have recently overhauled the Festivals section with many more improvements and expansions to come. Many of cities, towns and villages have an events page with a list of annual events. Also, you can now submit any event to our calendar located in the lower right hand corner of the Homepage. In the meantime, if you have any questions about events coming up, don't hesitate to post your query on our forum (see the right hand column on the Homepage). That is an excellent way to get information from contributors who might even be living in the town where your upcoming event is taking place.
