An independently-organised TEDx event in Marbella next month, featuring Michelle Chaplow

If you've heard of TEDx, you'll know this is exciting news. If you haven't, then here's the lowdown.
TED is a non-profit organisation devoted to "Ideas Worth Spreading"; it started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Since then, its scope has become ever broader, with two annual conferences - the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs, US, each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh each summer. TED also encompasses the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programmes, and the annual TED Prize.
TEDx is a programme of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience: a number of speakers coming together to give short talks to an audience.
TEDxMarbella, which takes place next month, will seek to extend the TED mission of ideas worth spreading in the Costa del Sol area, highlighting exceptional people and creative projects and works. The aim is to connect people across disciplines, creating conversations and driving action.
The theme of TEDx Marbella will be: "Sustainable Malaga: Initiate, Innovate, Motivate". Michelle Chaplow of andalucia.com will be one of the speakers; the award-winning travel photographer says she is "honoured to be invited to speak at TEDx". Her talk will be on the importance of photography for hotels and destinations: how to capture the essence of the subject.

Also taking part is one of Andalucia's top chefs, Dani Garcia, at whose flagship restaurant the event takes place. He is about to open a new branch of his Manzanilla restaurant in New York.
There will be 20 speakers in total, both Spanish and expats, and you can find out more about them on the TEDx Marbella website, where each speaker has their own page, with a photo and short biography. The event will be held on 8 March at Calima restaurant in the Gran Melia hotel, and lasts from 10am-3pm. Speakers are divided into three sections: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Motivation.
Tickets cost 45 euros, but only 100 are available, so you should pre-register now.
These are the speakers, with the last six to be announced shortly.
