Florence Long

Writer

Florence started writing and editing for Andalucia.com in November of 2021. She graduated from UCL in 2018 with a degree in English. She then taught English abroad for over a year and travelled Eastern Europe, exploring ancient Slavic forests and defending brutalist architecture to anyone who would listen. She enjoys using the English language skills she gained as a teacher to proofread and edit a text to a high level of copy. Florence particularly enjoys writing within the genres of travel, biography and art history, with a keen interest in the 20th-century movements such as the fin de siècle, surrealism, and punk.

Florence’s ongoing projects focus on Andalucia’s international cultural history in the context of art, music and literature. She hopes to broaden her understanding of the region and transfer this knowledge to the site. Aside from this, Florence is passionate about slow travel and environmental issues concerning tourism. She works for the AEF (Aviation Environment Federation) as a communications officer and freelances as a copyeditor and writer.
