Arroyo de la Miel - Plaza de España

Plaza de españa

Once the nucleus of Arroyo de la Miel, Plaza España is a delightful small square tucked away off the main pedestrianized area of the town. The square is entered though an 18th century archway known as the Portal de San Carlos. On the right, as one passes through the archway (which bears the coat of arms of Arroyo de la Miel's founder), a tiled wall offers information and painted images of the square's history.

Plaza España has retained a sleepy Andalusian atmosphere, even though it is just a few metres from the main road, and its collection of white-washed houses, some in state of ruin, offer the perfect postcard image of yesteryear.

Several small bars are situated around the square offering tapas and snacks, the best of which is Bar Plaza España.
