Best days (or nights) to go to the Seville Fair
The opening Saturday night of the Feria is ‘sabado de pescaito’, when everyone traditionally eats fried fish.
Those groups and organisations which have their own caseta will hold a dinner for selected caseta members (though there may be so many, that they can’t all eat there at the same time).
At midnight, all the lights on the Portada, as well as the farolillos, coloured paper lamps that line the streets throughout the whole recinto, are switched on. This is called the alumbrao.
If you don’t have a lunch invitation, and you don’t want to eat in a crowded public caseta, it is best to eat before arriving, at one of the many tapas bars near the recinto, then arrive at about 5pm to see the horses and have a drink. Dancing starts at about the same time.
Which is the best day to go to the Feria?
The Wednesday of the Feria is a public holiday in Seville, so that day tends to be more crowded as locals can come during the day (as opposed to after work), and on Friday and Saturday many visitors come to Seville from other cities to experience the Feria. So the first two weekdays, Monday and Tuesday, are the best to go.
