Blanca Paloma

Blanca Paloma, Singer

Blanca Paloma Ramos Baeza is a Spanish singer, set designer and costume designer born in 1989 in Elche, Valencia Community.

In February 2023 she won in Benidorm Fest 2023 with the song "EAEA" and thus represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool (9th to 13th May 2023) with the song "EAEA" where she came a disapointing 17th position.

Her artistic name is Blanca Paloma, being he given names. Ramos is her father’s family name and Baeza is her mother’s family name.

After graduating from Miguel Hernández University of Elche with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Blanca Paloma Ramos moved to Madrid to pursue a career in theatre in 2013.

Blanca Ramos has sung in bands De mar a mar and Alfakay. In 2021 she wrote the music for the RTVE television series Lucía en la telaraña. In 2022 she was a also contestant in the Benidorm Fest with ballad 'secreto de agua' with which she came fifth.

The song EAEA, co-written by José Pablo Polo, is musically intriguing where flamenco embraces electronic sounds with flamenco handclaps and Arabic vocal lines underscored with a pulsating synth line. In her own word it is 'compás por bulerías'.

The songs release artwork features Blanca Paloma's late grandmother Carmen, who introduced her to Flamenco. "It's like a tribute to the matriarch of the family. She was a Sevillana, a seamstress, the soul of the party and an after-dinner artist. I want to sing all that baggage, that flamenco legacy, that love she transmitted to me through singing".

Paloma Blanca performed EAEA with five backing singers. "I try to make it a journey from the brightest to the darkest moments. In the song you can notice that, first there is more intimacy and then voices are added. Everything becomes more collective" she says.

BBC predicted a top three result in Liverpool. Blanca came in at a disapointing 17th position.
