Cascada de Camojan
Cascada de Camojan or Camojan for short is a district of Marbella, and essentially a large gated community that is one of the most exclusive and expensive in Marbella.
The name of the district originates from the cascades 8series of small waterfalls) on the Arroyo Guadalpin (Guadalpin stream) on its eastern boundary. The stream also has two other names; Arroyo Calaña, Arroyo de los Monjes. The latter name (Monks stream) originates from the signed walking path that leads up to the ruins of the Ermita del Monjes (Monks Chapel) and then west to Nagüeles Park or east Ojen.
This is a small estate by Marbella standards built on very hilly terrains; almost as a later extension where the original Sierra Blanca to the west stopped short. Due to the terrain and Arroyo Guadalpin there is no access to the east, nobody passes Camojan to go anywhere ensuring it is a less well-known and more exclusive residential part of Marbella.
There are a couple of original properties dating back to 1960 and 1972 however most of the multi-million villas were constructed in the late 1990’s and mid 2000’s. Due to the very hilly terrain some of the villas do overlook each other.
The main access road is Calle 2 it is the continuation of and runs up from the Marbella motorway. The part of the estate on the east of this axis is full gated security, the part to the west that adjoins Sierra Blanca is private. The street names retain a simplicity being called Calle 1 to Calle 8.
Although most of the properties in Cascada de Camoján consists of large villas, on the fringes outside the gated community there are several exclusive apartment complexes and small detached villas.
Imara is a contemporary development built in 2002, of about fifteen three storey blocks incorporating about 80 apartments in 2- and 3-bedroom configurations.
Condado de Sierra Blanca built in 2005 consist of two lines of about fifteen three storey apartment blocks overlooking the Arroyo Guadalpin and the upper reaches of El Paraiso Golf.
