Ronda Road - La Zagaleta
La Zagaleta is the most exclusive residential estate in southern Spain. It is a full-security gated community of (when complete) 400 villa plots each selling for €3 million and upwards. In the 1970s and 1980s the estate belonged to Saudi Arabian businessman Adnan Khashoggi as La Baraka and was embargoed for non payment of taxes. In 1992 it was purchased at official state auction in by the La Zagaleta Group. Even though the estate had official permission for 3,000 dwellings, La Zagaleta decided to create something unique and they have certainly succeeded. In the early years they concentrated on completing infrastructure: it now has two private golf courses, a lake, an equestrian centre, heliport and a member's clubhouse (which had been Khashoggi's house). An on site service company attends to the house maintenance and services.
Only members and invited guests can enter the estate.
