Back under Chef David Olivas who was origionally from Ubeda in Jaén province, gained its Michellin star in November 2023 for the 2024 Guide. The restaurant is in the old town centre of Marbella. Opened with renoun sommelier Fabián Villar. Chef David Olivas opened Back in 2016 after working 14 years alongside Dani Garcia.

Messina
Messina has been delighting guests with two tasting menus since opening in 2001, under its Iialian chef Mauricio Giovanini, and gained its Michelin star in 2015. Dishes include king prawns with cream of polenta and tomato, and Iberian pork loin with cream of lentils and roast spring onions. More>

One of Andalucia's most renowned and respected chefs, known for his imagination and originality, Dani had an eponymous three-Michelin-starred restaurant at the beachfront Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella until he decided to close in November 2019. More>

Restaurants - Former Two Michelin stars

Andalucia's best known chef is Dani Garcia, won his first star back in 2000 for his restaurant Tragabuches in Ronda. The Marbellan chef presided over Restaurant Calima in the Hotel Gran Melia Don Pepe from 2005 until it closed at end of 2013 summer season when Dani moved to Puente Romano in 2014. Calima was awarded its first star in 2007, and a second in 2010 to become the first Michelin two-star restaurant in Andalucia.

El Lago
Beautifully set overlooking a lake and golf course, in a smart residential development, this is as slick as you’d expect for such an upmarket location. Chef Diego del Rio’s dishes include tuna tartare with ajoblanco of kimchi, apple and crunchy quinoa, or pigeon with puree of carrots, honey bread and soy and hazelnut sauce. El Lago held its Michelin star from 2005 to 2013. More>
