El Portico

El Portico

On the opposite side of the square is another popular bar called El Portico and this hidden treasure specializes in Castilian cuisine.

This rustic themed establishment opened in 1999 and offers a range of gourmet-style tapas, including quail eggs, asparagus, lacón Gallego (boiled ham), angula (baby eels), and roast pepper salad.

Tapas are priced around two euros and half rations are available from between four and five euros.

El Porticon has an impressive wine list that includes an extensive selection from the Ribera de Duero region.

Customers can also purchase products typical of Castilla y Leon, like olive oil, olives, varying pork products, cheeses and wines.

El Portico opens at midday and serves until 4pm. They reopen at 7pm until midnight.

La Reja has a relaxing, secluded terrace where people can enjoy the tranquility of this relatively unknown square.
