Louie Louie Rock music bar located in Edificio PuertoSol, in Estepona Marina, next to O' Donoghues Irish Pub. Opened in 2013. (Previous bars here were La Bomba, Ebola, Comic & Doñana in the early 1990s.) Regularly hosts Spanish bands, typically from Malaga, Seville and northern Spain, and often big-name bands from the UK, USA and Australia on European tours - quite a feat for a small venue. Typically known for rock and blues bands. Regular Saturday night performers on the early shift (21.00) include English session music veterans the KP Band. Shift change for invited artists at 23.30 hrs.
Open every night in summer (except Mondays) and winter (except Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays) at different times depending on the performances, usually from 21.00, bands generally take to the stage around 23.30, a good half hour later than advertised. Admission ranges from €5 (local bands) to €12 or even €20 for international touring bands, with free entry on non-band nights or earlier in the evening. Drinks are reasonably priced. Tribute bands often play at weekends. Karoke on Thursdays, followed by a set from DJs (often the impressive duo 'We are not DJs'). Louie Louie is a popular bar with a very friendly atmosphere created by its diverse clientele and staff. If you read the reviews, this 'temple of rock' is considered by many to be the best rock bar on the Costa del Sol. It is certainly unique in Andalucia. Once inside, you could be forgiven for thinking you had been teleported to Los Angeles; lots of neon, Jack Daniels stage sign and mural of girl on Harley, actually created by previous owners. The bar staff speak very good English. An outdoor terrace was added in summer 2020, which closes at 02:00 in accordance with local noise regulations. The music continues inside behind soundproof walls until around 03.00 in winter and 06.00 in summer. Arrival time: depends on the set, but Louie Louie's is quiet until around 23.00 (except Saturdays).
