Physiotherapy

by Dee McMath

Physiotherapy is the application of therapeutic massage and manipulation, which treats an array of musculo-skeletal injuries and conditions. Physiotherapists are fully trained and qualified professionals.

For good health and mobility, physiotherapy is the choice of many people in certain circumstances, as an alternative to taking medicines or having surgery. Problems with joints, muscles or the nervous systems, as a result of sports injuries, arthritis or perhaps long term illness can lead to less mobility. Physiotherapy may be the answer.

There are many qualified physiotherapists in Andalucia. If you prefer an English-speaking practitioner, you are more likely to find one in the larger towns along the Costa del Sol - Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Nerja, etc. Since therapists come from various countries around the world in this area, where many nationalities have taken up residence, it is important that you make the physiotherapist is bona fide before seeking treatment.

Ailments treated by physiotherapy include stiffness, painful joints, severe headaches or migraine, chronic back or neck pain, rheumatism, arthritis, fractures or sprains.

If you have a problem that you think a physiotherapist could help with, its best to have a check up with your general doctor first, to make sure physiotherapy is appropriate.
