Nerja Museum
The Nerja Museum explains the history and the natural and cultural heritage of Nerja and is run by the Cueva de Nerja Foundation.
The Museum of Nerja concentrates on the history and the surroundings of the famous Nerja cave from prehistory to the present day, with an emphasis on the most important aspects of each historical period.
The modern Museum of Nerja's permanent exhibition is divided in five halls, each dedicated to different moments of local history. It includes archaeological and ethnographic artefacts. These are supported by historical documents, photographs, plans and models, videos and explanatory panels.
MEZZANINE FLOOR 1 - Introduction
FIRST FLOOR - Phoenician times to 16th century.
MEZZANINE FLOOR 2 - 18th century Nerja.
SECOND FLOOR - contemporary Nerja.
GROUND FLOOR - Archaeological investigations in the Cave of Nerja including Pepita, an epipaleolithic skeleton over 9,000 years old.
Temporary Exhibitions
Temporary exhibition hall is the Ana María Márquez room where exhibitions of various themes are regularly inaugurated. these can be paintings, drawings, engravings, photography, sculpture, history which allow national and international artists from Nerja, Axarquía and beyond to exhibit.
Admission to all the temporary exhibitions in this hall is free.

Mon to Sun from 10:00 to 14:00 hrs and 18:00 to 22:00 hrs.
1 September to 30 June
Mon to Sun from 10:00 to 14:00 hrs and 16:00 to 18:30 hrs.
Closed 1 Jan and 15 Mayo.
