Museo Ciudad de Baeza - Beaza city Museum
This museum features a selection of artefacts on display that show different periods of human occupation in Baeza.
The earliest occupation was the Bronze Age (2500-100 BC), on display are ceramics and funeral equipment, loom weights, punches and needles. From the Roman Period (Flavian Dynasty 1st century AD) on display are pottery for packaging and pottery for domestic use such as plates, pot, bowls, plates and glasses.
From the Medieval Period, a distinction is made between the Arab civilization (Almohad invasion) and the Christian period following the reconquest. On display are decorative elements from domestic life such as remains of tiles, lamps, jugs and plates.
From the Modern Era doors, keys, chests, safes, portraits are on display. Three significant pieces stand out from this period, the first is the painting by Juan de Bolaños, El Viejo (the only preserved copy of this author's pictorial work) that represents the scene of the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa The second is an impressive jar that is displayed in the hall of the Baeza Museum for storing oil. The third is a door known as the three keys, which once guarded the most important documents of the city in the Upper Town Hall building.
