Palacio de los Obispos

Palacio de los Obispos

This palace was the bishopric residence from medieval times. It has undergone several modifications: the first at the beginning of the sixteenth century, at the time of Bishop Don Alonso Suarez de la Fuente del Sauce, the second in the mid-nineteenth century to be transformed into the Army Cavalry Barracks, and the third in 1910 by the State and Town Hall. In 1945, a correctional facility for women was installed, passing the management of the building to the Provincial Board for the Protection of Women. In 1991, it was reformed to be the Congress Centre of the Andalusian Women’s Institute.
